Dr. Norbert Spirig, Director of Operations at IOB, is officially retiring today from the institute's Executive Board. Norbert is one of the three founding directors of IOB and led operations since the institute's founding in 2017. Together with the Directors Hendrik Scholl and Botond Roska, Norbert built up and significantly shaped the institute.
We want to congratulate and thank Norbert for his outstanding achievements, immense contribution, and the impact of his efforts. We sincerely wish him all the very best for the next chapter of his life.
The IOB leadership and associates celebrated Norbert’s accomplishments during the Annual Retreat of IOB two weeks ago in Grindelwald.
Dr. Charles Gubser, who joined IOB at the beginning of January as Chief Operating Officer and who has worked closely with Norbert to ensure a smooth transition, takes over the operational business, effective July 1st, 2023.
Charles has worked with Novartis for 20 years, and for the last five years has been secretary of the Board of Trustees of IOB. He was trained in mathematics and chemistry and has a PhD from Cambridge University in biochemistry. He worked mainly as a project leader at Novartis, leading R&D projects and post-merger integrations.
